ODHFS Annual Meeting

The Central Region was proud to host the 2001 Statewide Meeting & Convention  
January 13, 2001 at the Chesterfield Airport 

The Annual Meeting of the ODHFS was held Saturday, January 13, 2001 at the Kings Corner Banquet Room. During the business meeting, the ladies were offered a class called Creative Memories. They learned how to better preserve their priceless mementos, and how to develop a scrapbook to display them. 

Following the meeting, the annual banquet was held. A barbeque buffet was catered by King's Catering. An exciting program followed, include a guest speaker, the installation of officers for 2001, the Bob White Memorial Award presentation, the first ever "Founders Awards", the Franklin Mint Raffle, and an assortment of door prizes. 

Our guest speaker was David Diamantes, a new ODHFS member who lives in Berryville, VA with his wife and two daughters. David's background includes 25 years service with the Fairfax Fire Department. He currently serves as a Fire Protection Consultant whose clients include the University of Maryland, and he travels around the world teaching Fire Protection Inspectors. He is the author of "Fire Prevention: Inspection and Code Enforcement". David's presentation was on: "Major Conflagrations in the United States and how they influenced today's fire service". 

On Sunday, members met at Shoney's in Chester for breakfast, followed by tours of three local "Fire Stations". Chesterfield Station 14 as well as Mike Dubus and Ed Prices' personal stations.
