1955 Oren Pumper
Serial # 750-a-1505
Apollo Hose Company #2 (Apollo, Pennsylvania) purchased this
Oren Pumper in 1955. Put into Service in September of 1955,
Engine 21’s
features include: a 750 G.P.M. Two-Stage Pump
with a vacuum
transfer to change from pressure to volume,
500 Gallon Tank, A Continental 6 cylinder motor,
Fuller 5A430 Transmission 5
Speed with Overdrive,
Two switch start (Magneto-to-battery), hood
mounted
Federal Signal Mars Lights (one with a built in mechanical
siren),
and an open cab. The “Oren” as it was known to all members
was
the second due out engine until she was retired in 1990.
Engine 21’s last call was a reported structure fire at our
station
when a garage door opener ignited as we were out on training
with
our new aerial. The call turned out to be minor but the members’
can still remember engine 21 screaming into the station!
Now the truck is strictly for parade and shows purposes and has
antique plates. However, the truck needs some minor work done
although it still in it’s original state. Brakes have always been
a
problem along with the carburetor.
Updated photos (three
bottom photos on the left)
were sent in by Rob Gibbons
on Oct. 24, 2004 after some
refurb work on the truck was completed.

parts may exist please contact:
